Weather and Natural Disaster: Weathering the Storm is a 2-part immersive preschool educational program designed to support teachers and young learners under the threat of or facing extreme weather or natural disasters. While designed for children ages 3 to 5, this program is able to easily be differentiated for slightly older children.
Part 1 is focused upon the science of extreme weather and natural disaster events. As children learn about the basics of weather and climate science, this is paired with safety and preparation lessons designed to help even the youngest learner prepare for what is or may be predicted. Part 2 is focused upon storm and natural disaster recovery efforts and steps. With a weather science angle, children will also explore the emotion behind major weather events, community helpers who assist in extreme weather events, and how to be a helpful member of their local community through and beyond disaster.
